YOUTH 4/5/6 PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our Youth Tackle Football program is available for participants in 4thgrade through 6th grade. Players in 3rd grade, who are not interested in flag football, are also allowed to participate. Our program plays in the Snowbelt League, which has many NH and Vermont communities participating, and it is a "travel league." The goals of the Youth Tackle Football program are to grow players in the areas of teamwork, confidence, fitness, and sportsmanship while placing a tremendous emphasis on safe and effective techniques that players can build on throughout their football and athletic careers.
The league format allows for all youth players to practice as a single team, while having the potential for 2 games, one for 6th graders and more experienced or developed 5th graders, and another game for 3rd and 4th graders and less experienced or developed 5th graders. This format is ideal for player safety and playing time maximization and is a great highlight of the Snowbelt League. If we have a high enough number of participants, we can field both teams successfully, so please spread the word and help us recruit some great families into the organization!
Youth Tackle Football typically runs from mid-August through the end of October/early November. We are required by league rules to practice 5 days per week in the pre-season (the weeks prior to school starting, and before our first game) to learn proper techniques and build body stamina / conditioning necessary for safe participation in contact football. We then transition to 3 practices per week and play games on weekend days, which vary depending on the schedule. Our program provides helmets, shoulder pads, pants, and all required protective gear. Players will need to have their own cleats, water bottles, and mouth pieces. Our Head Youth Football Coach, Mike Bagtaz brings over 20 years of coaching experience at various levels to our program.
