7/8 Tackle Football Head Coach: Mike Lochman

Mike Lochman is the Head Football Coach and the Football Director of the John Stark Jr. Generals Football Program. Mike joined our program in 2020 as a head flag football coach, and in 2021 became the head youth coach. Mike was named Football Director in 2022.

Mike has coached sports at various levels for 30 years at various levels, starting as a Pop Warner youth football assistant in 1994 with the Merrimack Cardinals football organization. In 1997, Mike transitioned to coaching football at the NHIAA high school level, spending a year with Milford, 9 years with Merrimack, and 5 years with Hollis-Brookline. In 2013, Mike was named varsity Head Football Coach at Souhegan High School, where he remained until after 2016, when he stepped down to allow him to transition back to coaching youth sports as his young sons grew older. In addition to his tackle football experience, Mike has also coached youth baseball since 2017 in the New Boston and Goffstown programs, including being named the manager of Goffstown's 10U Little League All-Star team in 2022. He has coached youth flag football in Goffstown, Weare, and at the Bedford Sportsplex since 2018.

Mike has spent over a quarter of a century immersed in coaching, including having over 20 years of participation in Glazier Football Clinics (personal development opportunities for coaches), being trained and certified in First Aid / CPR, heat and exertion safety, concussion protocol, and the NHIAA Coaching Principles certification courses. Mike has been involved in many proud moments in his coaching career, including association with teams recognized 3 times by the NHIAA for the Football Sportsmanship Award (2004, 2005 at Merrimack, 2013 at Souhegan), serving as the position coach for the 2001 NH Gatorade Player of the Year and for the 2011 Nashua Telegraph Player of the Year, and being named NHIAA Division 2 Coach of the Year in 2015.

Mike lives in New Boston with his wife Shelley and their two sons who both participate in the Junior Generals football program (Colin, age 12 and Owen, age 10)
